LeBron James Injury Update
- When Will He Return?
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been out since suffering a left groin strain on March 8 against the Boston Celtics. Initially, reports suggested a one-to-two-week absence, but the latest update hints at a potential return by March 24 when the Lakers face the Orlando Magic. James, now 40, has been remarkably durable throughout his career, but the Lakers are taking a cautious approach to ensure he returns at full strength before the playoffs.

With James sidelined, the Lakers have struggled, dropping key games against Western Conference rivals. Anthony Davis has stepped up in LeBron’s absence, averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds over the last five games. However, the Lakers need James back to solidify their playoff position, as they currently sit at the 7th seed in the Western Conference. The team remains optimistic about his return, with sources suggesting he’s progressing well in rehab.
The Kingc resented from a groin injury during the clash with the Boston Celtics (Saturday, March 8), so the player took different physical tests to assess the degree of severity and wait for his evolution during the following days.
James was initially estimated to be out of the field for a week or two and would return just in time for the commitments in the playoffs, which begin in mid-April.
According to Shams Charania’s report, James’ diagnosis is detente in the left groin and would be out at least until next week, setting March 24 as the date of his possible return, when the Lakers visit the Orlando Magic. On the other hand, Rui Hachimura, who had left rotulian tendinopathy, would be back this week.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to Rest Against 76ers as Thunder Lead the West
Oklahoma City Thunder fans were surprised to see star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander listed as out for tonight’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The team has cited rest as the reason, a strategic decision as the Thunder continue their dominant run atop the Western Conference with a league-best 56-12 record.

SGA has been sensational this season, averaging 31.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game while shooting efficiently from the field. With Oklahoma City comfortably leading the West, resting their star player makes sense, especially with the playoffs approaching. Expect Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams to take on larger offensive roles in his absence.
Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has officially been ruled out Wednesday with a rest designation. It’s a much-needed day off for the the 26-year-old, whose 33.0 points and 6.2 assists per contest have powered Oklahoma City to the top tier of NBA Finals contenders. Gilgeous-Alexander’s leap has been incredible to watch this season as he continues to develop his scoring bag while serving as the engine of this talented team. Even despite former second-overall pick Chet Holmgren missing significant time, the Thunder have been atop the West all season thanks to SGA’s ascension.
His co-star, Jalen Williams, has also been ruled out due to a hip injury. As for the rest of the lineup, Isaiah Hartenstein, Cason Wallace, and Lu Dort are all questionable to play on Wednesday.
With both Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams certain to miss the game, Holmgren is well-positioned to produce as the Thunder’s best remaining player. If Wallace and Dort are able to play, either of them could present solid DFS value by soaking up some available guard minutes.
Boston Celtics Secure 50th Win of the Season
The Boston Celtics became the first team in the league to reach 50 wins this season after a 104-96 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Despite missing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics relied on strong performances from Kristaps Porzingis and Baylor Scheierman.

Boston remains the favorite to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference, with their depth proving to be their biggest strength. The Celtics’ defense, anchored by Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, continues to be among the best in the NBA, limiting opposing teams to just 105.6 points per game.
New York Knicks Facing Tough Playoff Path
The New York Knicks are currently the No. 3 seed in the East, but analysts are raising concerns about their postseason potential. If the playoffs started today, the Knicks could face a dangerous Detroit Pistons team in the first round. The Pistons have been one of the biggest surprises of the season, with Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey forming a formidable backcourt.
While the Knicks have been solid, injuries to Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson have hurt their frontcourt depth. The addition of OG Anunoby at the trade deadline has improved their perimeter defense, but New York will need to be at full strength to make a deep playoff run.
NCAA Updates – March Madness News
TCU Extends Head Coach Mark Campbell’s Contract Through 2030
Texas Christian University has locked in head coach Mark Campbell with a contract extension through 2030 after he led the Horned Frogs to their first Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles. TCU earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, marking their highest placement in program history.

Campbell’s ability to develop players and implement a fast-paced offensive system has transformed TCU into a national contender. The team now has its sights set on making a deep March Madness run.
During his first year with the Frogs, the season began with a roaring start before injuries so depleted the roster that TCU held walk-on tryouts on campus and were forced to forfeit two games due to the limited roster. In the three seasons prior to Campbell’s hire, the Horned Frogs won just 24 total games combined, winning under 29% of games played. Campbell and his staff, along with the support of the university and its boosters, brought in elite transfer talent as soon as he arrived on campus, with major prospects like Sedona Prince & Madison Conner and was able to retain that talent into 2024-25 while adding All-American guard Hailey Van Lith as part of another heralded transfer class.
Robert Morris to Face Alabama in NCAA Tournament First Round
Robert Morris University, a No. 15 seed, will face No. 2 seed Alabama in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Colonials earned their tournament bid by winning the Horizon League tournament, securing their first appearance since 2015.
While Alabama is heavily favored, Robert Morris has the potential to pull off an upset if they can control the tempo and hit their three-pointers. March Madness has seen many Cinderella stories over the years, and the Colonials hope to add their name to that list.
Florida’s Olivier Rioux Poised for NCAA Tournament Debut
At 7-foot-9, Olivier Rioux is officially the tallest player in NCAA history and holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest teenager. Now playing for the Florida Gators, Rioux’s presence in the paint has been a game-changer, providing the Gators with elite rim protection and rebounding.

As Florida prepares for the tournament, opposing teams will have to figure out how to deal with Rioux’s size and skill. Some scouts have even compared his potential impact to Shaquille O’Neal’s college dominance at LSU.
